Before driving into Golden Ears
Check the BC Parks page the same day you travel. In peak periods, day-use vehicle passes may be required for parking areas beyond the Spirea trailhead, and storm damage or wildfire conditions can affect trails. Cell service is poor or absent in many parts of the park, so save maps and key information before entering.
Choose the right level of adventure
A beach-and-picnic visit to Alouette Lake is fundamentally different from a backcountry hike. Long mountain routes require fitness, equipment, daylight and conservative turnaround decisions. Families and casual visitors can still have an excellent day using lower-elevation walks, picnic areas and designated swimming locations.
